Eligibility Requirements
- Valid passport with minimum 6 months validity
- Educational qualifications (degree or diploma)
- Professional experience certificates
- Clean criminal record certificate
- Health insurance valid in Portugal
- Proof of means of subsistence
Financial Requirements
You must demonstrate sufficient funds:
- Minimum €1,200 per month (based on minimum wage)
- Bank statements for last 3-6 months
- Or employment contract if transferring
- Sufficient funds for return travel
Visa Duration & Conditions
Key details:
- Initial validity: 120 days (4 months)
- One-time extension possible (60 days)
- Total maximum: 6 months to find employment
- Cannot work until visa converted to work permit
Path to Residence
After finding employment:
- Apply for residence permit at SEF
- Work contract required for conversion
- Initial residence valid for 1-2 years
- Pathway to permanent residence after 5 years
- Eligible for citizenship after 5 years
